Residential Structure Fire On Clydesdale Circle Saturday Afternoon.

PASO ROBLES, CA – At approximately 12:02 p.m. on Saturday May 27th, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to the 600 block of Clydesdale Circle for a reported residential structure fire.

The initial arriving apparatus reported a single-family residential structure with heavy fire involvement in the attic. Fire was contained to the attic with no fire extension to the living area within the initial ten minutes of arrival. Occupants were not home at the time of the fire and three dogs were safely evacuated from the home by fire personnel.

Crews remained on scene until 3:40 p.m. conducting overhaul to extinguish hot spots within the attic and salvage operations to protect the contents of the homeowners.

Three fire engines, and a Battalion Chief from Paso Robles Fire responded to the incident. Under the City’s automatic aid agreement, one engine and one Battalion Chief from Cal Fire/SLO County Fire and one engine from Atascadero Fire responded. In total, fifteen firefighters worked to quickly contain the fire.

Additional assistance was provided by Paso Robles Police Department, PG&E, and San Luis Ambulance Service.

Further investigation determined the cause of the fire was an electrical equipment malfunction.

Paso Robles Police To Hold Active Shooter Training.

PASO ROBLES, CA – The Paso Robles Police Department will be holding active shooter training in the Paso Robles City Council Chamber and the City Library (1000 block of Spring) on Thursday June 1st 2023, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. The City Council Chamber, City Hall and the City Library will not be open to public access during this event.

Residents visiting the area should not be alarmed by the increased presence of law enforcement during this exercise. The Police Department is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all citizens within our community.

Paso Robles Police Respond To Burglary In Progress Sunday Morning

PASO ROBLES, CA – On 05/21/2023 at approx. 1208 hours, officers from the Paso Robles Police Department responded to the 300 block of Montebello Oaks for a report of a residential burglary in progress. The victim was not home but was alerted by their RING camera of the activity.

The responding patrol officers discovered an occupied vehicle in the driveway.

One of the suspects, Eliana PaloPomar (35 years of Los Angeles), was in the driver’s seat. Inside the vehicle officers recovered a significant number of items which had been stolen from the residence. A second suspect who was involved in this burglary fled on foot and is still outstanding. A K9 was used to search the area which led to the recovery of burglary tools, and several articles of the suspect’s clothing which was seized as evidence. The suspect is described as a light skinned, male, 25-35 years old, last seen wearing black pants and black and white Nike shoes.

Paso Robles Police Make Robbery Arrest, One Still Outstanding.

PASO ROBLES – On 05/15/2023 at around 8:20 p.m., the Paso Robles Police Department responded to a robbery in the 1200 block of Alamo Creek, in the Dry Creek Apartment complex.

A caller reported two men forced a family at gunpoint into an apartment and robbed them of personal belongings. Police raced to the scene, but both suspects fled prior to our arrival.

As the investigation began, we learned the two men allegedly responsible were Leonel Herrejon Sanchez (33, Paso Robles) and Angel Chavez (19, Paso Robles). Our investigation also led us to Walmart where Chavez was seen on surveillance footage attempting to use a credit card belonging to one of the victims.

On 05/17/2023, a patrol officer spotted Chavez near 28th and Park Street. Chavez was arrested without incident. Chavez was transported to the SLO County Jail and booked on four felony charges: 211 PC – robbery, 207 PC – kidnapping, 459 PC – burglary, and 182(a)(1) PC conspiracy.

Early Morning Traffic Collision Leads To DUI Arrest In Paso Robles

PASO ROBLES, CA – On 05/09/2023 at approx. 0835 hours, officers from the Paso Robles Police Department responded to the Golden Hill Car Wash for a report of a single vehicle traffic collision. The responding patrol and traffic officers discovered the vehicle’s driver, Ana Aguirrezbatres (37 years of Paso Robles), was uninjured. She was, however, displaying signs and symptoms of being impaired.

After conducting a DUI investigation, Aguirrezbatres was arrested for 23152 (f)VC which states: “It is unlawful for a person who is under the influence of any drug to drive a vehicle”. The PRPD is asking you to remain watchful for impaired drivers and please do not drink / use medications or illegal drugs and get behind the wheel.

Paso Robles Fire Department To Host Wildfire Preparedness Block Parties

PASO ROBLES, CA – Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services is proud to announce its upcoming FireWise Wildfire Preparedness Block Parties. These events, held at locations on the urban/wildland interface, are aimed at educating the community about the importance of wildfire preparedness and how to best protect homes, properties, and people from the devastating effects of wildfires.
The first FireWise Wildfire Preparedness Block Party will take place on May 10th, 2023, at 17th Street and Chestnut from 6 pm to 8 pm and the second will be held May 17th, 2023, at 12th Street and Fresno Ave. from 6 pm to 8 pm. Both events will be excellent opportunities for the community to come together and interact with firefighters and CERT volunteers to learn about wildfire preparedness.
According to John Prickett, Fire Captain/Paramedic, “Wildfires continue to be a significant threat to our communities. The more we prepare for disasters such as wildfires, the chance of damage is decreased to our homes, properties, and our way of life. We have developed a FireWise community on our western city limits, and we would love to have the residents come out for an evening of interaction with your firefighters and learn about ways to prepare your home for wildfires.”
In addition to the educational aspect, the FireWise Wildfire Preparedness Block Party will display the department’s wildland fire engine, which attendees can view up close. This event is free and open to the public, so everyone is encouraged to come and participate.

One Hit and Killed By Amtrak Train In Paso Robles Tuesday Afternoon.

PASO ROBLES – On 04-11-23 at approximately 2:12pm, the Paso Robles Police Department received information that a pedestrian was struck by a southbound Amtrak passenger train near the 2800 block of Riverside Ave.. When police officers arrived on scene, they located a White male adult who was deceased from injuries sustained from the collision. Paso Robles Police Detectives were able to retrieve surveillance video of the incident, which is currently under review. The victim has not been positively identified at this time, and the San Luis Obispo Sheriff Coroner has been notified.

Paso Robles Police Arrest One For Burglary Tuesday Night

PASO ROBLES – On 03/14/2023, at about 5:00 pm, the Paso Robles Police Department received a call regarding several storage lockers that were broken into at a storage facility in the

2900 Block of Union Road. A manager investigated the matter and reviewed the on-site surveillance footage. The manager noted a red car on the premises during the time of the break-ins and noted the gate passcode used was that of a new tenant.

Shortly before 8:00 pm, the manager called to report the new tenant, driving his red car, was back on the property. Officers arrived and attempted to stop the vehicle within the complex, but the driver, John James Jenkins, Jr (28, Paso Robles), tried to flee, while throwing stolen property out of the car window. Jenkins was not able to exit the property and gave up. Several stolen items were recovered from the scene. Officers also located a loaded .40 caliber handgun near the center console.

Jenkins was arrested on multiple felony charges related to the thefts as well as weapons violations by a person who legally cannot possess a firearm/ammunition. Jenkins was booked into the SLO County Jail.

Paso Robles City Preparing For Rain, Flooding Tuesday

Paso Robles, CA. March 13, 2023 – The City of Paso Robles remains on alert for storms forecasted beginning early Tuesday, March 14th and continuing into Wednesday. The National Weather Service is predicting the Salinas River will reach flood stage late Tuesday afternoon or evening. A local declaration of emergency remains in place, with City staff and resources prepared to respond to issues as they arise. It is strongly advised to avoid driving through, entering, or playing in moving water at all times

Residents and businesses at the following addresses remain under an evacuation warning:

70 through 84 Navajo Avenue

406 and 390 Paso Robles Street

3700 and 3730 Spring Street

1509 through 1911 North River Road

If evacuations are necessary, an evacuation order will be issued, and an evacuation shelter will be established. Residents with questions about the evacuation warning can call 805) 227-7236.

All Recreation classes have been canceled, along with Story time at the library. The Senior Center will be closed, the Library will be open. The Library Study Center will be open and YMCA activities will take place.

The City has sand available for anyone wishing to make sandbags to protect private property.

Sand can be found at the City Streets Yard located at 1220 Paso Robles Street. A shovel is onsite, but please bring your own sandbags as they are not available on site. If you need sandbags, they may be available locally at: Farm Supply, Home Depot, Kritz Excavation, Lowes, Miner’s Ace Hardware, Site One Landscaping and Steve Schmidt Topsoil.

Police and Fire personnel continue to contact individuals within the riverbed to emphasize the need to seek higher ground.

A warming center for the unhoused is scheduled to be open March 13 and 14 at Paso Nazarene Church (530 12th St). Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will be served.

City of Paso Robles Storm Update – Evacuation Warnings

Paso Robles, CA. March 10, 2023, 11:00AM -The City of Paso Robles has issued an evacuation warning for certain neighborhoods and businesses near the Salinas River and preparing for the closure of the 13″ Street bridge due to rapidly rising water levels within the Salinas River.

Residents close to the river in lower Navajo Avenue area and south Paso Robles Street should begin preparing to evacuate now, as the rain is forecasted to continue for the next 12 hours. Paso Robles Emergency Services staff is contacting residents of the following streets to alert them of the need to begin preparing for evacuation:

70 through 84 Navajo Avenue

406 and 390 Paso Robles Street

3700 and 3730 Spring Street

1509 through 1911 North River Road

If evacuations are necessary, an evacuation order will be issued and an evacuation shelter will be established. Residents with questions about the evacuation warning can call 805.227.7236.

Due to rapidly rising river levels, City staff is preparing to close the 13* Street bridge as soon as this afternoon. Motorists should prepare to use alternate routes. The Niblick bridge and 24th Street bridge remain open.

River Road remains closed from Navajo to 13th and from Union Road to River Oaks Drive.
