PASO ROBLES, CA – On Friday, May 8, at approximately 4:04 p.m., Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to Highway 101 and Highway 46 West for a reported vehicle fire.
The first arriving unit reported a passenger vehicle heavily involved with a threat to the adjacent vegetation and requested additional resources. Crews were able to quickly stop forward progress of the fire into the vegetation and extinguish the vehicle fire.
Two fire engines and one Chief Officer from Paso Robles responded. Under the city’s Mutual Aid Agreement, one fire engine from Cal Fire/SLO County Fire responded and one fire engine from Templeton Fire Department responded. California Highway Patrol and Paso Robles Police Department also responded to the incident.
PASO ROBLES – On Wednesday, April 22, 2026 the Paso Robles Police Department responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at a residence within the city of Paso Robles. A citizen reported suspicious activity on an Uber App and notified law enforcement, requesting a check the welfare at the residence.
Officers responded to the home and learned that the resident had been scammed for a loss of more than $10,000. After learning of the circumstances surrounding the scam, officers worked quickly to identify the third-party Uber Driver and were able to contact the driver via telephone. The funds were returned to the Paso Robles Police Department and ultimately returned to the victim of the scam. It was ultimately determined that the Uber Driver had no knowledge of and was not involved in the scam. Officers are still working to identify any potential suspects.
The Paso Roble Police Department would like to remind the public that there are various types of scams, and that debt collectors or government organizations will never send a courier to your home to collect funds to settle a debt. Additionally, non-traditional payment methods such as gift cards or cash of any kind should never be utilized through a third party as payment.
This investigation is on-going and anybody with information regarding this case or similar should contact the Paso Robles Police Department or their jurisdictional law enforcement agency.
PASO ROBLES, CA – On Thursday, April 16, 2026 at approximately 7:53 PM, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a fire alarm at 1134 Black Oak Drive, in Paso Robles.
The initial call of a fire alarm was upgraded to a full structure fire response due to additional callers. First arriving firefighters found no smoke but active flowing water from a first floor apartment sprinkler system. Firefighters made a quick search and found two dogs that were located in the bathroom. The dogs were removed and turned over to PRPD until the owner could be found. The fire was isolated to one apartment on the first floor. Firefighters remained at scene until approximately 9:48 PM assisting the building owners with evacuating water and salvaging their contents to prevent further damage.
Two engines, one truck, one Squad, and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles responded. Under the City’s automatic aid agreement one Engine and one Battalion Chief responded from Cal Fire/SLO County A total of 12 firefighters responded to the incident. The Paso Robles Police Department also assisted.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
This fire serves as a good reminder that with daylight savings time, it is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detector.
PASO ROBLES, CA – On Tuesday April 1st, 2026, at approximately 4:37 PM, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding with smoke in the building at 1319 Spring Street, in Paso Robles.
First arriving firefighters found light smoke and an active flowing sprinkler system in the building. After further investigation, a fire was found to be extinguished on the second floor of the business. The fire was isolated to a room on the second floor. Firefighters remained at scene until approximately 6:28 PM assisting the building owners with evacuating water and salvaging their contents to prevent further damage.
Two fire engines, one fire truck, one squad, and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles responded. A total of 12 firefighters responded to the incident. The Paso Robles Police Department also assisted.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
PASO ROBLES, CA – On Thursday, March 26th, 2026, Paso Robles Police Officers and the Department of Emergency Services responded for a traffic collision with injury on Highway 46E, at the intersection with Union Road.
At approximately 5:21 a.m., PRPD dispatch received a call for a three-vehicle traffic collision with injuries. When Officers arrived on scene, it was determined the vehicles involved were blocking Highway 46E in both eastbound and westbound lanes. Both occupants of one of the vehicles involved were extricated from their vehicle by Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services and were later transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation, and the Paso Robles Police Department Traffic Division is requesting anyone with any information to call the PRPD at (805) 237-6464 or persons wishing to remain anonymous are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers’ 24-hour hotline at 805-549- STOP or by texting “SLOTIPS” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

PASO ROBLES, CA – Active shooter and rapid response incidents require coordinated, well-prepared responses. To stay prepared, the Paso Robles Fire Department and Paso Robles Police Department will be conducting joint rapid response and active shooter training exercises on March 24th and March 26th. Residents living in or visiting the area of the old Georgia Brown campus (525 36th St) should not be alarmed by the increased presence of law enforcement and fire personnel.
Both departments are committed to the safety and well-being of all community members. This training is one in a series of rapid response exercises that will be conducted in the upcoming months
On March 5, 2026, at approximately 9:55 PM, officers from the Paso Robles Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Spring Street in Paso Robles regarding a report of a male suspect pointing a handgun at another male’s head while telling the victim he “was going to die.”
The victim was able to escape from the suspect and was not injured. The suspect fled north from the area and was not located at that time.
On March 8, 2026, Detectives from the Paso Robles Police Department continued the investigation and identified the suspect as, Irvin Hernandez, a 31-year-old male. Detectives were able to locate Hernandez’s whereabouts and obtained both an arrest warrant and a search warrant for the apartment where he was staying.
At approximately 3:00 PM, members of the San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT Team assisted in serving the search warrant at Hernandez’s apartment in the 3400 block of Spring Street.
A portion of the apartment complex was evacuated for safety reasons, and Hernandez was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.
PASO ROBLES, CA – On February 18, 2026, Paso Robles Police and Fire dispatch received a report of individuals stranded on an island in the Salinas River. Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded one ladder truck, two engines, a Battalion Chief, Rescue 8151, and Squad 8152 with Boat 8140.
Crews were able to launch Boat 8140 and safely rescue two individuals and five dogs from a riverbed encampment. The Paso Robles Police Department and San Luis Ambulance assisted with victim location and assessment. None of the victims required medical treatment, and no responders were injured.
Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind residents that during periods of heavy rain, especially when soils are already saturated, rivers and creeks can rise rapidly. Never attempt to cross unfamiliar moving bodies of water.
PASO ROBLES, CA – On Thursday December 11th, 2025, at approximately 1:10pm, the Paso Robles Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a road rage incident involving a male who brandished a handgun at the victim in the area of Spring Street and 9th Street.
Officers quickly located the suspect’s vehicle in the area of 13th Street and River Road.
Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the suspect. Officers safely took the suspect into custody, who was later identified as Jay Alba (56, Paso Robles). A ghost gun was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. None of the involved parties were injured during the incident, and there is no current risk to the public.
Alba was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for the following charges:
PC 417.3 – Exhibiting a firearm in the presence of motor vehicle occupants
PC 29800(a)(1) – Felon in possession of a firearm
PC 25850(a) – Carrying a loaded firearm in public without a concealed carry permit
PC 30305(a)(1) – Felon in possession of ammunition
PC 32310(a) – Possession of a high-capacity magazine
PC 29180(c) – Possession of a firearm without a serial number!
PASO ROBLES – Shortly after midnight on December 9th, 2025, downstairs tenants at a multi-family residence in the 1400 block of Vine Street called 9-1-1 to report that the upstairs tenant was breaking windows, yelling, and flooding the building. Officers arrived and attempted to contact the upstairs tenant, later identified as 55-year-old Michael Mogge of Paso Robles.
Officers, along with a crisis negotiator, tried repeatedly to communicate with Mogge, but he refused. Instead, he threw items out of the upstairs windows, broke additional windows, and started a small fire on an upstairs balcony, which eventually burned out on its own.
Officers secured the area and maintained watch until about 9:30 a.m., when Mogge again began throwing items from his window. He refused to come downstairs to speak with police, family members, or mental health specialists, and continued vandalizing the unit despite ongoing attempts at communication.
Detectives obtained an arrest and search warrant for Mogge. Chemical agents and diversionary devices were used in an effort to get him to surrender, but he continued to refuse. With assistance from the Paso Robles Fire Department, officers made entry into the residence via an upstairs balcony around 1:00 p.m. Mogge fled by jumping from the roof, injuring himself in the process.
He was taken into custody pursuant to the arrest warrant.
Mogge was treated at a local hospital and later booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail on the following charges: felony vandalism (PC 594(b)(1)), arson (PC 451), and resisting a police officer with violence (PC 69).
