Paso Robles Police Introduce New K9 Team

PASO ROBLES, CA -The Paso Robles Police Department is pleased to announce the newest member to its patrol force: Police K9 “Griff”. Officer Stephen Lugo has been selected to be the K9 handler, and both he and K9 Griff just completed a 5-week K9 Patrol School and K9 Narcotics Detection School. K9 Griff is a 15-month-old German Shepherd, imported from Serbia by our vendor kennel located in Ventura. K9 Griff has been trained and POST certified for handler protection, apprehension, searching and narcotics detection.

Officer Lugo and K9 Griff will be on duty this Friday, 03-07-25 starting at 4:00pm.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled For Paso Robles Public Safety Center

PASO ROBLES, CA – Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services, along with the Paso Robles Police Department, is excited to announce the upcoming groundbreaking ceremony for the Paso Robles Public Safety Training Center on March 8, 2025, at 10:30 am. The Training Center will be located at 2924 Union Road, Paso Robles CA 93446. This ceremony will mark the beginning of construction of a fire training tower and an indoor training classroom building. Primary project funding is through measure J20. The project also received a $500,000 Federal Community Appropriation submitted by Congressman Leon Panetta.

Paso Robles Fire Department To Conduct Training At Cenntennial Park

The training will begin at 6pm and be concluded by 830pm. There will be multiple engines participating in the training event from Paso Robles Fire as well as CalFire/San Luis Obispo County Fire. Residents can expect to see posted signs in the area announcing the training event.

PASO ROBLES, CA – On Friday, February 28, 2025, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services will be conducting an evening training drill at Centennial Park.

The training exercises will involve hose pulling and ladder use. No live fire or destructive training will take place.

Paso Robles Fire Department To Conduct Training At Old Georgia Brown School Site.

PASO ROBLES, CA – On March 1 and 2, 2025, the Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services Department will utilize the old Georgia Brown School site, located at 525 36th Street, for various fire department training drills.

Over these days, residents can expect to see posted signs in the area announcing these training events. There will also be an increased presence of fire department apparatus.

The training exercises will involve hose pulling and firefighter rescue. No live fire or destructive training will take place at this location.

Paso Robles Emergency Services Conduct Rescue In Riverbed Thursday Evening

PASO ROBLES, CA – On February 13, 2025, Paso Robles Police and Fire dispatch received a report of individuals stranded on an island in the Salinas River. Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded with three engines, a Battalion Chief, and Rescue 8151 with Boat 8140, which was upstaffed due to the storm.

Crews were able to launch Boat 8140 and safely rescue nine individuals from riverbed encampments. The Paso Robles Police Department, CHP Helicopter 70, and San Luis Ambulance assisted with victim location and assessment. None of the victims required medical treatment, and no responders were injured.

Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind residents of the importance of heeding evacuation messages. The Salinas River poses significant life and health hazards due to dangerous river flow and high bacteria levels. Evacuation warnings were issued to riverbed occupants starting on Monday, February 10, with additional storm and evacuation warnings continuing throughout the week.

City Of Paso Robles Prepares For Thursday Storm

PASO ROBLES, CA – This week’s storm is associated with an “Atmospheric River” bringing potential for significant rainfall and wind gusts up to 45 mph in the Paso Robles area. The storm is expected to be heaviest Thursday morning into Thursday evening. The peak precipitation rates are potentially up to 1″ per hour and several inches of rain is expected.

City staff have been preparing by monitoring and addressing storm drain systems, clearing out debris from flood prone areas, preparing equipment for immediate response and making staff available to respond to problems as they arise.

Free Sand for residents is available at the City Streets Yard, 1220 Paso Robles Street.

Residents must bring their own sandbags and shovels, and load materials themselves.

Paso Robles Emergency Services Responds To Traffic Collision Monday Evening

PASO ROBLES, CA – On Monday, January 6, 2025, at approximately 5:20 PM, Paso Robles Police Department Dispatch received a call about a single-vehicle traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a blue Dodge Charger in the 3300 block of Spring Street. The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. It was determined that drugs or alcohol were not contributing factors. The pedestrian, a 33-year-old female resident of Paso Robles, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Traffic Collision 

PASO ROBLES, CA – On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at approximately 7:11 PM, Paso Robles Police Department Dispatch received a call of a single-vehicle traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a silver Toyota Highlander in the 1800 block of Spring Street.

The vehicle’s driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation and it was determined that alcohol was not a contributing factor. The male pedestrian, a 74-year-old resident of the local area sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police Lockdown Lewis-Flamson Junior High School Thursday Afternoon

PASO ROBLES – On 12/12/2024 at approximately 12:50pm, a student reported to staff they heard of a person near the campus of Lewis Flamson Junior High in possession of a firearm.

There was also a report of a loud bang. Based on that information, the SRO initiated a lockdown and requested additional PRPD backup.

PRPD reported to the school site within 4 minutes and secured the campus while the administration started an investigation. PRPD detained and searched a juvenile just off campus.

Several students were interviewed, and it was determined that nobody saw a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers conducted a thorough search of the school campus and surrounding area.

After an extensive investigation, no firearm or evidence of gunfire was found, and no injuries or victims were located. The situation was determined to be a false alarm.

Once all students were accounted for and the site had been thoroughly searched and determined to be safe, the lockdown was lifted. No firearm was found and no evidence of gunfire was discovered. School was dismissed at the regularly scheduled time.

The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District and Paso Robles Police Department takes any report of potential threats seriously. This response reflects our commitment to protecting our schools and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.

Paso Robles Fire Department Responds To A Report Of A Gas Leak

PASO ROBLES, CA – At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday November 6th, 2024, Paso

Robles Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to 1500 Linne Rd. for a reported ruptured gas line.

The first arriving unit reported a 4” gas line had been struck by an excavator and was actively releasing Natural Gas. Fire crews established a safe perimeter and evacuated the immediate area. The Gas company responded and had the gas leak mitigated by 3:45pm. No Service interruptions are expected. Linne Rd. is expected to reopen for traffic by 5pm.

Two fire engines and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles responded.
