Traffic Stop leads to DUI arrest and Weapons Charge

PASO ROBLES, CA – On 01/14/2024, at approx. 0236 hours, a PRPD officer initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 Jeep for a vehicle code violation, driving without headlights on.

Officers contacted the driver, Reef Sepulveda, a 19-year-old resident of Atascadero, at Ardmore and Golden Hill. Sepulveda showed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was arrested for DUI. At the time of his arrest Sepulveda was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun which had been reported stolen out of Paso Robles in 2022.

Sepulvida was arrested for DUI and Knowingly Possessing a Stolen Firearm, He was booked into custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail on the felony charges.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact the PRPD.

Georgia Brown Elementary School Placed On Shelter In Place Tuesday Morning

Today, Georgia Brown school staff thought they heard gunshots in the surrounding neighborhood. They did an excellent job of immediately issuing a shelter-in-place and contacting law enforcement. Officers responded and searched the area. The shelter-in-place was lifted once the area was cleared. No threats have been made towards the school or students.

Paso Robles Fire Department Responds To Structure Fire Monday Night

PASO ROBLES, CA – On Monday January 8, 2024, at 7:20 p.m., Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire alarm at 500 1ST Street in Paso Robles.

First arriving firefighters arrived and noted light smoke in the structure. They upgraded the response to a commercial fire response. Crews were forced to pry open the main door to make entry. A small fire was confined to one of the bathrooms in the business. The building contained minimal smoke damage and was turned back over to the property owner.

Two fire engines, one truck and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles responded. A total of 11 firefighters responded to the incident. Assistance was also provided by the Paso Robles Police Department.

The cause of the fire was found to be a bathroom exhaust fan that was left on and overheated causing the fire. Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind all business owners that if you have a Knox box at your business, to make sure the keys in the box have been updated when locks are changed.

Paso Robles Police Investigate Shooting

PASO ROBLES – On 01/06/2024 at approximately 11:56 PM, the Paso Robles Police Department received a call of shots heard in the area of 36th Street and Park Street.

Officers searched the area and located an occupied dwelling that had been hit by gunfire.

Fortunately, nobody inside was struck. Officers and detectives processed the scene and learned the dwelling was struck by multiple rounds and some had penetrated all the way through to the living area.

Bomb threat investigated by Paso Robles Police

Yesterday, 1-4-24, Paso Robles High School students reported a SnapChat user made bomb threats towards the Paso Robles High School. We take all threats of violence seriously and investigated the threats. The account was associated with a local juvenile. After the juvenile and their parent were contacted, it was determined not to be a credible threat.

Please use this opportunity to speak with your children about the seriousness and consequences of their words. Juveniles making threats toward the school are subject to disciplinary action, including possible expulsion and criminal charges.

One Arrested for DUI and other charges after vehicle pursuit Saturday night

PASO ROBLES – On the evening of 12/30/2023, a PRPD officer initiated a traffic stop on a blue Subaru sedan that was traveling at high speeds and swerving on State Route 46E. The vehicle fled southbound on US 101 while consistently showing willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons and property. The vehicle crashed multiple times near Main St causing property damage to street signs. The vehicle was ultimately brought to a stop on Ramada Dr.

The driver of the vehicle, (Matthew Brown) (32 Paso Robles), was removed from the vehicle and placed into handcuffs. A female adult passenger was uninjured and later released from the scene. Brown was found to have a felony warrant and multiple misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. Brown showed strong symptoms of controlled substance use and a subsequent DUI investigation showed impairment consistent with this. Brown was arrested for the following violations and booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail:

2800.2(a) CVC – Felony evading of a peace officer.

20002(a) CVC – Misdemeanor hit-and-run.

23152(f) CVC – DUI drugs.

11377(a) H&S – Possession of a controlled substance.

Multiple Warrants.

Both the California Highway Patrol and San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office assisted in this investigation.

Paso Robles Fire Department warning drivers of the consequences of driving over fire hoses after an incident in Paso Robles

PASO ROBLES – Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire along Stoney Creek Road and Rambouillet Road at 7:55 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9th. While pumping water from the hydrant across the street to the scene, multiple cars disregarded emergency vehicles acting as deterrents for traffic and struck the fire supply hose, causing damage and delaying the water supply to the scene.

Driving over a fire hose is not only illegal but dangerous to drivers, firefighters, and bystanders.

California Vehicle Code Section 21708 states, that no person shall drive or propel any vehicle or conveyance upon, over, or across, or in any manner damage any fire hose or chemical hose used by or under the supervision and control of any organized fire department. However, any vehicle may cross a hose provided suitable jumpers or other appliances are installed to protect the hose.

Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services do not have or provide ramps for vehicles to drive over the fire hose.

Paso Robles Police Release Results From Recent DUI CheckPoint

Paso Robles, Calif. – Paso Robles Police Department arrested one driver on suspicion of DUl on December 15, 2023 during the planned DUI checkpoint. Additionally, 19 drivers were cited for driving unlicensed.

“We are committed to taking impaired drivers off the road,” Commander Afana said.

“Driving under the influence is not only dangerous, but also has major consequences.” Drivers charged with a first-time DUl face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California.

City Of Paso Robles Opens Fire Station 3.

PASO ROBLES, CA – The City of Paso Robles is happy to announce that Fire Station 3, located at 2924 Union Road, is now open. This is a historic day for our city. Fire Station 3 is a long awaited critical public safety facility that will reinforce the existing emergency response system, improve response times to those areas that are currently outside of the 4-minute response zones, and assist with future growth and development.

Fire Station 3 is staffed daily with three firefighters and includes 2602 sq. ft. of living and office space, and 4190 sq. ft. of apparatus garage. Crews will primarily respond a fire engine out of the station and cross-staff the department’s heavy rescue and aerial ladder

Fire Station 3 was funded with a combination of Development Impact Fees and Measure

J-20 funds. Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services would like to thank the community of Paso Robles for supporting and approving Measure J-20. The construction of Fire Station 3 also shows the commitment of the Paso Robles City Council to improve response

Future phases of the Union Road project will include a training center and additional office space for the Community Risk Reduction Division. A public ribbon cutting event and open house will occur in the spring.

Paso Robles Fire Department Responded To A Multifamily Residential Structure Fire Sunday Night

PASO ROBLES, CA – At approximately 8:15 p.m. on November 26, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to 33rd Street for a reported multifamily residential structure fire.

The first arriving units at scene located a fire burning in an exterior storage space on the second floor of a three-story structure. The fire suppression sprinkler system activated, keeping the fire in check until firefighters were able to access and fully extinguish it. Due to the fire suppression system and quick actions by firefighters, there was no fire extension into the living quarters, and there was minimal damage to the structure. All occupants were able to evacuate safely and return to their homes after the fire was extinguished.

Two fire engines and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles Fire responded to the incident. Under the City’s automatic aid agreement, two engines and one Battalion Chief from Cal Fire/SLO County and one ladder truck from Atascadero responded.

Cause of the fire was undetermined.
