PASO ROBLES, CA – On Saturday August 2, 2026, at approximately 5:18 PM Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 2900 block Vine Street in Paso Robles.

First arriving, firefighters found light smoke and water coming from the front door of the residence as the occupants were leaving. Firefighters checked the residence and found that one bedroom was charged with smoke and had a home sprinkler activation. The home sustained extensive water damage due to the sprinkler activation and crews remained on scene for two hours to help with clean up.

Two fire engines, one ladder truck, one squad and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles responded. Under the City’s automatic aid agreements, one fire engine and one Battalion Chief from Cal Fire / SLO County Fire and one fire engine from Atascadero Fire all responded to assist. A total of 13 firefighters responded to the incident with additional assistance from both Paso Robles Police Department and San Luis Ambulance Service.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a candle left unattended in the bedroom.
