PASO ROBLES, CA – At 3:35 a.m. on Thursday November 9, 2023, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to a vegetation fire in the Salinas River south of Niblick.

First arriving units located the fire in the center of the riverbed, with difficult access. The cause of the fire was the result of an escaped warming fire from an adjacent encampment.

The fire was contained to a 20ft x 20ft and no injuries were reported.

Three fire engines and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles responded. Under the city’s Automatic Aid Agreements two fire engines, Battalion Chief from Cal Fire/SLO County Fire, and one fire engine for Atascadero Fire responded. High fire danger conditions will remain in effect through the weekend for the Central Coast and interior valleys, due to low humidities and windy conditions associated with a Santa Ana wind event affecting southern California.
